When I ran to Paris

Woop! There it is!

Currently inside the window display of Colette, the Paris located concept store, are two of the pieces from the Viktor and Rolf spring/ summer collection. I was very excited to see then in front of my eyes, however this didn't help with trying to work out how they defy gravity.

Also inside there is a collection of Olivier Zahm photographs of all his famous friends.....

Whilst out for a stroll about Paris last week, we stumbles across the Louis Vuitton show where we spot lots of fashion faces [including facehunter doing some facehunting...] entering the big clear tent covering the fountain in the square by the Louvre. oh, and Terry Richardson was so late he wasn't allowed in so hung outside with the desperate bloggers and photographers gazing in at the top of the fountain.

Throwing away Manolos

Yesterday's evening standard was a welcome read as the incompetent overground system failed to get me home anywhere near a decent hour.
One article left me shocked and in disbelief when describing how outside a "top department store on 5th avenue she spotted a crowd of well-heeled women rifling through rubbish bags. She was told that the staff were routinely throwing out designer outfits. In one of the bags she found a pair of snake skin Manolo Blahnik pumps that had been slashed with a razor. How carrie bradshaw would have wept." And so did I! This was an example of how brands dispose of their clothes which were past their sell by date, and rather than discounting the goods and devaluing the brand they would rather destroy them to preserve the high end image. All I could help thinking was, I want to find the bins that these items are hidden within. It would be like discovering the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

electric blue

I just got the Bat for Lashes album, I listened to it 5 times today. She is magical.
I stood memorized in the crowd at Bestival when I saw her live over the summer, as she swanned around in an electric blue play suit across the stage.

This is a jacket I made as a costume for Bestival the summer past. It took 2 days of agonizing pain caused by eyleting each individual silver scale to the jacket.

In New York, the magazine stores don't seem to dispose of out of date magazines. often resulting in 3 different months worth of Vogues on the same shelf. This however worked in my favour when it came to obtaining my copy of TAR. I had seen this edition months before in the WHSmith at Victoria station, and missing my chance to purchase due to long queue to the counter and my train departing in moments.

The opening fashion story styled by Alistair McKimm, Cedric Buchet and Philipp Haemmerle recasts supermarket meat, spaghetti and sprinkes as couture:
